English
"When mind arises, all things arise; when mind subsides, all things subside." — Awakening of Mahāyāna Faith, the text Wonhyo spent his life expounding (T32 No.1666, verified against CBETA)
This is the very line linked to Wonhyo's awakening with the skull-water: when mind arises, a whole world arises with it; when mind rests, that world rests too. The sweet water at night and the skull water at dawn — the water never changed; the mind did. If the world feels rough today, before setting out to fix it, ask just once: what has arisen right now — the world, or the mind? Look at the scene before you. For one breath, quietly compare how the same scene appears when the mind is busy and when it is still.
