"A dog's Buddha-nature" — the true command held up whole. Step onto "has" or "has not," and you lose body and life.
We're trained to split every question into yes or no — exams taught us, the world runs on it. But Wumen warns: with this one word "Mu," the moment you step onto either side, "has" or "has not," it's over.
For the hwadu is not a question with options; it is a wall that blocks the very habit of choosing. That helpless standing before an unanswerable question is not practice going wrong — it is practice finally catching.
This weekend, when something refuses to resolve, don't rush to file it under good or bad. Carry it unsplit for just one day. That is how the strength to hold "Mu" is grown.
Today's question: When both "has" and "has not" are set down — what remains, standing before the question?
